Trip Summary

Day 1 – Arrival in Windhoek

Upon arrival at the Windhoek International Airport or Eros Regional Airport you are met by a representative of Essence lifestyle who will transfer you to our head office. Here you will have time to kick, back, relax and take in your new surroundings. An Essence Lifestyle representative will run through your exciting fly in safari in detail and will provide you with your travel documents as well as an accompanying surprise from us. After your briefing you will be transferred to your accommodation for tonight.

Day 2 – Windhoek to   Hoanib Valley Camp

After breakfast this morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Namibia’s remote north west where you will be spending the following three nights at Hoanib Valley Camp on a fully inclusive basis. You’ll arrive at the Orutjandja airstrip where a representative of Hoanib Valley Camp will be waiting for you. You will then be transferred to the camp proper. Hoanib Valley Camp has the distinguished pleasure of being one of the few Lodges in the remote Kaokoveld and is located in an area very few members of the human race will ever to get see in the flesh.

Day 3 – Hoanib Valley Camp

Today can be spent taking part on a host of activities as offered by Hoanib Valley Camp. Hoanib Valley Camp’s unique location allows for a broad range of activities, and due to the remote location, sightings of other vehicles are quite rare in stark contrast to sightings of desert-adapted elephant in the area around Twyfelfontein for example, guests here will often find themselves alone with a herd of these African icons. Nature walks and sundowner drives are also on offer.

Day 4 – Hoanib Valley Camp to Shipwreck Lodge

After spending two nights in the Koakoveld you will be transferred to Shipwreck Lodge Where you will spend the following two nights. The transfer is essentially an extended nature drive through the otherworldly landscapes of this remote part of Namibia. There will be a stop for a picnic lunch after which you continue on to Shipwreck Lodge which you arrive at in the mid to late afternoon. Marooned on Namibia’s desolate and remote Skeleton Coast, the lodge is the stuff of fantasy, its rooms seemingly scattered across the sands, fragile in appearance yet sturdy in construction.

Day 5 – Skeleton Coast

Today is spent taking part on activities offered by Shipwreck Lodge. This includes drives in the Hoarusib River bed and surrounds, a trip to the fascinating clay castles and a chance to see some of the area’s elusive wildlife. You’ll pass the remnants of the Suiderkus and Karimona shipwrecks and the abandoned Westies diamond mine, before ending up at the large seal colony at Möwe Bay. If you would like a break from the larger 4WD vehicles, you can also go quad biking in the dunes around camp.

Day 6 – Shipwreck Lodge to Sossusvlei

This morning you are transferred to the Mowe Bay airstrip for your scenic flight down Namibia’s western coast to the Namib Sand Sea at Sossusvlei. You’ll arrive at the local airstrip where you will be collected and transferred to Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. One of Namibia’s premier accommodation establishments, Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is a true gem in the Namib and an A-grade stay in the loud silence of this expanse.

Day 7 & 8 – Sossusvlei

Today you can take part on a host of activities on offer at the iconic Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. This includes excursions to Sossusvlei, guided nature walks, scenic nature drives, an exhilarating quadbiking trip around some local dunes and an excursion walk to a Bushman cave with rock paintings. With regards to the Sossusvlei excursion, it takes about two hours to get to Sossusvlei from Sossusvlei Desert Lodge as it is located in the NamibRand nature reserve (about 2 hours), after the excursion you’ll return to the general area where your guide will whip out a cooked breakfast accompanied by your standard breakfast accessories.

Day 9 – Windhoek for departure

After breakfast this morning, you bid farewell to the peace and tranquillity of the Namib Desert and are transferred to the local airstrip in time for your flight back to Windhoek International Airport in time for your international departure flight. You also have the option of staying an extra night in Windhoek, if necessary. Do let the team at Essence Lifestyle know prior to your booking confirmation and we will arrange this accordingly.
